The Blue Planet Run Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising global awareness about the lack of safe drinking water, announced Motorola, Inc. as the official provider of wireless products for the inaugural 2007 Blue Planet Run around-the-world relay that starts this week.

Motorola will provide all wireless equipment necessary for the 20 Blue Planet runners and support staff to stay connected to each other, family and the press during the

95-day run.

“The Q9 is the ideal device for the run, keeping everyone in touch through phone calls and e-mail, and allowing us to document the experience with crisp pictures and videos from around the world,” said Matt Kursh, CEO of the Blue Planet Run Foundation.

The 2007 Blue Planet Run event, which is made possible by the support of The Dow Chemical Company, will circumnavigate the earth’s Northern Hemisphere, covering 15,200 miles, passing through 16 countries and 4 continents, 24 hours a day for 95 days to deliver the message and importance of ensuring safe drinking water for everyone on the planet. Events in cities and towns along the route will mark the run’s arrival, educate local residents about the water crisis and inspire action. The Run concludes in New York City on September 4.

At its completion, the Run will have passed through Ireland, England, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Belarus, Russia, Mongolia, China, Japan, Canada and the United States.
