Russia and Greece discuss Cyprus issue

Moscow,(CNA) — The Cyprus question was among the issues discussed during a private meetings today in Kremlin between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Greek counterpart Karolos Papoulias, in the framework of the four-day official visit the latter is paying to Russia.

The Cyprus question was one of the issues also discussed during talks between Foreign Ministers of Russia and Greece Sergey Lavrov and Dora Bakoyiannis, respectively, and as Greek Foreign Ministry’s spokesman George Koumoutsakos said during these deliberations “Russia’s position and policy of principles on the issue was confirmed.”

Koumoutsakos told reporters that Bakoyiannis briefed her Russian counterpart “on the current state of affairs and particularly on the problematic deadlock regarding the 8 July Agreement, for which of course the Greek Cypriot side is not to blame.”
