The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Cyprus Network in collaboration with the Professional Employees Union of Electricity Authority of Cyprus and the IEEE Cyprus is organising the two lectures at 7pm on Wednesday May 30 at the CYTA head office amphitheatre in Strovolos.

The main topic of the first presentation by Nicos Mastorakis, a member of the Vodafone Greece board of directors will be an overview of “Mobile Communications Evolution”.

Apart from the conclusions drawn from the history of the rapidly growing mobile communication markets the presentation will address the main future challenges of the industry in terms of technology evolution and future services. In this context, the impact of convergence with other sectors like the internet, broadband access and broadcasting will be highlighted. The presentation will close with a brief summary of the Greek telecommunications market outlook and the cooperation with the evolving Cyprus telecommunication market.

In the second presentation, CYTA’s General Manager Nicos Timotheou will talk about ‘Convergent Services – Human Relations’ and CYTA’s vision for the creation of a connected world with the aim of improving people’s quality of life when they communicate, work or have fun.

This world will be free of the restrictions imposed today by technology with regards to types of access or devices so that people will concentrate on human interaction and relationships. The main means for realising this vision is the introduction of convergent services which will, for the first time, bring together all electronic communications networks, applications and services with the exclusive aim of creating this ideal 21st century communications environment.
