The total registrations of motor vehicles in Cyprus increased by 32.3% to 21,500 in January-April 2007, from 16,255 in January-April 2006.

Private Saloon cars increased to 15,962 from 11,898 in January-April 2006, rising by 34.2%.

Car registrations have been affected by changes in excise duties as the government cut duties in late 2006 and also in late 2003, which affected demand. For example, after a boom in 2004, registrations fell by 9.9% in 2005 and 0.7% in 2006.
