Emirates awards top cargo agents in Cyprus

Emirates, the Dubai based international airline, awarded its top cargo agents in Cyprus during a dinner hosted by Emirates Area Manager Paul Fleri Soler. Also present at the ceremony was the Divisional Senior Vice President Emirates Sky Cargo, Ram Menen, who presented the winners with the awards.

Emirates’ top three agents in terms of sales and volume were Hull Blyth Araouzos, 2Serve (Airports Services) and Eurofreight Logistics. Genesis Logistics won a special achievement award.

Ram Menen in his speech thanked the cargo agents and gave details of the new Cargo Terminal in Dubai which will be the biggest in the world.

Paul Fleri Soler thanked the agents for their cooperation and stated that their contribution also made the airline’s success possible. He also announced that as from May 2, a new and bigger aircraft is being used on the Dubai-Larnaca-Malta route, the Boeing 777-200, which offers more cargo capacity of up to 18 tonnes.

Emirates SkyCargo recorded strong growth across its network last year to carry 1.2 mln tonnes of cargo, surpassing its record of 1 mln tonnes of cargo carried the previous year by 13.5%. The division’s revenue of  USD 1.5 bln was 19% higher than the year before, and contributed 20% to the airline’s transport revenue.

In all, Emirates SkyCargo carries freight in 102 aircraft, including nine freighters, to 89 cities and Emirate flies five times a week to Larnaca from Dubai and back and four times a week from Larnaca to Malta.
