President heads Cyprus trade delegation to Romania

Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos arrived in Bucharest Monday, where he will pay a three-day state visit, accompanied by the largest ever trade delegation that will spend a week of business meetings and launch of new services.

Cyprus, being the tenth largest foreign investor in Romania, has had a presence of business people for many years, many of whom in the property, manufacturing and financial services sectors.

Leading development company, A. Panayides Construction, is launching its one-stop-shop services for property investments in Bucharest and other towns to follow, while the bank of Cyprus will inaugurate its Leasing unit on Wednesday and a full branch operation in April.

President Papadopoulos is accompanied by Industry and Tourism Minister Antonis Michaelides, representatives of the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEV) and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE).

On Tuesday morning, Papadopoulos will meet with his Romanian counterpart Traian Basescu at the Cotroceni Palace.

The two state officials will sign a cooperation protocol on research and development.

Papadopoulos will visit the Palace of the Parliament to meet with President of the Senate of Romania, Nicolae Vacaroiu and visit the Plenary Hall of Senate. He will also visit the National Museum of Romanian History and will be hsoted at a state banquet.
