German national tests negative for bird flu in Cyprus

A German national tested for avian influenza in Cyprus after displaying flu-like symptoms was given the all-clear on Wednesday, authorities said here Wednesday, after receiving the results of tests carried out at the National Influenza Reference Centre of Southern Greece.
The German national arrived in Cyprus on Tuesday from Thailand.
The patient was admitted to Limassol Hospital with influenza symptoms for further examinations, due to his recent trip to a country in southeastern Asia, where avian influenza has been recorded.
