Marfin accuses Piraeus of foul-statements

Marfin Popular Bank (CPB) has called on the regulatory authorities in Greece and Cyprus to intervene and order Michalis Salas, Chairman of Piraeus to retract his alleged statement according to which, “I shall take Marfin in a month,” and alleged statements made by Piraeus officials as to “Piraeus will swallow Marfin after first we burst its bubble.”

An official statement by Marfin states that the Bank will not comment on the above statements.

Salas on the other hand said that he has not made such comments, or discussed Marfin with any media in Greece or Cyprus, and in reference to a front page article by the “To Vima” referring to such comments.

Salas is also calling on the regulatory authorities to intervene. At the same time, the Greek Finance Minister also called on both sides to show seriousness and refrain from making such comments.
