Former Health Minister nominated MP

Former Minister of Health Dina Akkelidou has been nominated member of the 56-seat House of Representatives for the leftwing AKEL party, in Nicosia District.
AKEL party’s runner up in the May 2006 parliamentary elections Akkelidou takes over the seat from Eleni Mavrou, who has been elected Mayor of the world’s last divided capital city Nicosia.
A special ceremony for her nomination took place 1st January at the office of the Nicosia District Officer Argyris Papanastasiou.
Akkelidou received a total of 9.922 votes in the May parliamentary elections.
