Cyprus manufacturing rises 3.6% in October

Manufacturing in Cyprus saw a rare rise in October, as the index rose to 111.6, a rise of 3.6% on October 2005. However, in the period, Jan-October, the index fell by 1.2% compared with the same period of 2005.

By far the fastest growing sector was the manufacture of electrical and optical equipment, which rose by 38% year on year in October and 24.8% year on year in January to October.

By contrast, the manufacture of leather and leather products fell by 28.5% year on year in October and by 25.2% in January to October.

The index of total industrial production including electricity, gas and water and mining rose by 3.5% to 118.5 in October.
