In today’s fast-moving business environment, no organization enjoys a guarantee of success or even survival. Business risk exposures are legion. Failure to manage them can severely damage reputation, brand and finances to an extent that may not be survivable. There is no shortage of high profile corporate disasters but even at sub-disaster level poor risk management can result in a significant drain on profits.

In response to the growing recognition of the vital importance of risk management, Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM) is staging a two-day intensive course on Business Risk Management for senior executives. Through real case studies, discussion and exercises participants will understand how corporate governance requires not only enduring and robust risk management systems that address all significant risks but also the creation of a culture of responsible risk-taking.

The course will be presented by Dr Alan Waring, who Financial Mirror readers will recognize as the contributor of the occasional Risk Watch column. He has been in risk management for nearly 30 years including 20 years in full-time consultancy for government departments, MNCs, industrial and commercial companies in Europe, Middle East and Asia. His book Managing Risk, co-authored with Professor Ian Glendon, is a standard reader on university risk management degree courses in many countries. He regularly presents conference and seminar papers in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore.

This course on November 24-25 at CCIM Nicosia is eligible for substantial HRDA fee subsidies. For further details contact the Executive Programmes Developer, Harris Makriyiannis, Tel 22462246, fax 22331121, e-mail [email protected].
