The unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of July 2006, reached 13.117 persons compared to 12.658 persons in June 2006, an increase of 459 persons. The increase is observed in the sector of education due to the increase in registration by staff employed in private schools that temporarily close down for the summer season.

In comparison with July 2005 an increase of 912 unemployed persons was recorded which was mainly observed in the sectors of manufacturing, education and transport, while a decrease of 189 persons was observed in public administration.
