The US embassy in Nicosia said that the last US government chartered flight for assisted departees from Lebanon who held a valid US passport of immigration/non-immigrant visa departed from Larnaca Airport Wednesday.

‘Of the more than 13,500 departees, which also included third-country family members of American citizens, less than 1% are still waiting for final decisions on their parole cases or were found ineligible to enter the US,’ a press release issued by the US Embassy says.

The release also notes that the families that opted not to depart Cyprus were offered transportation to hotels, and loans were given to those American citizens with need, adding that the US Embassy is assisting these people as they make onward travel arrangements from Cyprus.

Stating that the US Embassy is cooperating with Cypriot Immigration authorities, the release reiterates that the American people thank the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and the Cypriot people for their help in returning safely home more than 13,500 American citizens and their families.
