A demonstration against the attacks on Lebanon held up the traffic in Nicosia at around 6pm on Thursday as demonstrators called for an immediate ceasefire.

The demonstration was led by the communist coalition partner Akel.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the European Left Party visited Lebanon on July 25-27

to participate in a demonstration of activists and volunteers for humanitarian aid against the war.

The delegation visited the Beirut State Hospital and was informed by the doctors and the members of the “Doctors of the World” about the situation.

Akel MP Dinos Hadjinicolas told the Cyprus News Agency that most of the victims are children, and “90% of them will not be able to attend school this year, due to their wounds and health problems.

“The Middle East needs political solutions not more guns. it needs a long lasting peace that could give confidence to all states”, a European Left declaration said, calling for an immediate ceasefire and saying that the main obstacles were in Tel Aviv and Washington.

The delegation of the European Left moved on from Beirut to Damascus.
