Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos is following up the visit by UN Under-Secretary Ibrahim Gambari last week with a series of meetings with the Greek political leadership on Monday and Tuesday.

The latest developments in the Cyprus question, in the light of the agreement reached Saturday between Papadopoulos and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat, will be the focus of discussions.

Papadopoulos and Talat have agreed to begin a process of bicommunal discussions on issues that affect the day-to-day lives of people at the same time as discussions on substantive issues, both contributing to a comprehensive settlement to the Cyprus problem.

Papadopoulos’ agenda includes a meeting with Greek President Karolos Papoulias, Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis and other party leaders on Tuesday.
