Baghdatis qualifies for Wimbledon semi-finals

Cypriot tennis player Marcos Baghdatis triumphed once again at the Wimbledon Championships after he beat on Wednesday Australian six seeded Lleyton Hewitt, Wimbledon 2002 champion with three sets to one and is now heading to the semi finals of the British grand slam.

Baghdatis took the first set with 6 – 1, lost the second by 7 – 5, took the third with 7 – 6 at tiebreak and the fourth with 6-2.

He will now face the winner of the quarterfinal match between number 2 Rafael Nadal and Jarkko Nieminen which was scheduled to take place today but was postponed for Thursday because of the rain which had disrupted the programme on day nine and a delay in the preceding match between Jonas Bjorkman and Radek Stepanek.
