Kyprianou launches anti-smoking campaign

EU Commissioner responsible for Health and Consumer Protection Markos Kyprianou launched the second part of the EU – wide “Help – For a Life Without Tobacco” campaign, targeting young people on Friday.

The campaign was launched at the Eleftherias Square in Nicosia, in the presence of Cypriot Health Minister Andreas Gabrielides.

During his stay on the island (5-9 May) the Cypriot Commissioner is due to brief the ruling DIKO party on the campaign and speak on “Cyprus – Two years after enlargement”.

On Monday he will also attend a Rotary event at Limassol and speak on “Bringing the citizens closer to the EU”.

On Tuesday he will attend the “Cafe d’ Europe” event on the occasion of Europe Day in the capital of Nicosia as well as an official reception to be attended by the President of the Republic Tassos Papadopoulos.

Later on Tuesday Commissioner Kyprianou will return to Limassol to attend another Europe Day event organized by the town’s Municipality. (CNA)
