CSE volume hits CYP 9.7 mln

…Laiki and BOC lead the index higher

Volume on the CSE surged to CYP 9.7 mln on Thursday in one of the most active days witnessed on the CSE, as Banking shares powered ahead to new record highs.

Laiki Bank was the top active on CYP 3.45 mln volume, ending at a fresh record of CYP 2.93, up 5.8% on the day and well above its previous all time high of CYP 2.89, which has become the near term support according to Financial Mirror charts.

The Laiki rights (LAR) were the third most active, jumping 9.5% on the day to CYP 1.73 on CYP 1.31 mln volume. Since their debut at CYP 1.36 on Wednesday, the Laiki rights have gained 27% in two days of trading.

Bank of Cyprus shares were the second most active on the CSE on Thursday, closing 0.67% higher at a fresh record high of CYP 4.50 on CYP 2.47 mln volume.

The rally on the CSE also caught up with the ASE where BOC shares closed 0.77% higher at EUR 7.92 or CYP 4.56 on EUR 8.4 mln or CYP 4.8 mln volume.

Other active stocks included HB, up 2.61% at a fresh record of CYP 1.18 on CYP 833k volume and SFS, unchanged at 11.7 cent on CYP 102.000 volume.

The CSE GENX closed 1.71% at 2855.86 points.
