Bank of Cyprus shares closed at a fresh record high on the Athens Stock Exchange on Friday but investors in Cyprus were in no mood to follow the bullish mood prevailing in Greece, marking the Bank’s shares lower on the CSE.

BOC shares ended at a fresh record close of EUR 7.72 or CYP 4.45 on 931.000 shares volume for a value of EUR 7.15 mln or CYP 4.12 mln as foreign fund managers continued to mop up excess supply from the market.

The opposite was true on the CSE as Cypriot fund managers knocked the Bank’s shares 1.6% lower on Friday to a close of CYP 4.29 from its five year record closing high of CYP 4.36 on Thursday. Total volume on the BOC shares amounted to CYP 1.16 mln and made up one third of total volume of CYP 3.5 mln on the CSE on Friday.

The second active stock was Laiki Bank, down 1.14% at CYP 2.60 on CYP 1.12 mln volume, followed by Hellenic Bank, down 0.93% to CYP 1.07 on CYP 320.000 volume. Other active stocks were SFS, last at 11.6 cent and FWW at 41.4 cent.

The CSE GENX closed 1.46% lower at 2689.31 points.
