Fujitsu-Siemens launches new laptops

Computer maker Fujitsu-Siemens has announced several upcoming models from its various laptop lines.

The Amilo Pi 1536, slated to hit the market in February, is the newest model in the Amilo line and works with Centrino mobile technology and a Core-Duo processor.

A typical setup includes a T2300 Core Duo chip with a 2 megabyte cache and 1.66 gigahertz of processing power, an 80 gigabyte hard drive and a 15.4 inch display with WXGA resolution. The company did not give a price.

The company also announced its plans for a powerful new high- security laptop.

The “Lifebook E8110” will come standard equipped with a Core Duo mobile processor from Intel and will offer up to 20% more power than its predecessor, the company indicated in a press statement.

The device will also offer a separate Smart card slot and a fingerprint reader. It will likely be released into stores for the CeBIT computer fair in March.

The Lifebook E8110 will weigh 2.4 kilogrammes and possess a 15- inch display. Its battery will offer 12 hours of running time. Prices vary based on selected options. An average configuration will cost roughly 2,500 dollars.
