Cyprus building permits value up 14.3% Jan-Sep

The Statistical Service announces that the number of building permits authorised by the municipal authorities and the district administration offices during September 2005 stood at 782.

The total value of these permits reached CYP 105.3 mln and the total area 264.5 thousand square metres. These building permits provide for the construction of 1,395 dwelling units.

During the period January-September 2005, 6,468 building permits were issued, registering an increase of 4.2% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The total value of these permits increased by 14.3% and the total area by 11.7%. Τhe number of dwelling units showed a rise of 21.8%.

Building permits constitute a leading indicator of future activity in the construction sector.
