Ozker Ozkur

Ozker Ozkur, the former leader of the Turkish Republican Party (CTP) and later Secretary General of the United Cyprus Party, died at his home in northern Nicosia late Tuesday.

Despite his failing health, he continued to show interest in the latest developments in the political stalemate and often urged both communities to make a final effort to resolve the island’s division.

One of the last people to see him on Monday night was AKEL Secretary General Demetris Christofias who had recently presented Ozkur with the party’s 80th anniversary medal.
