Cyprus to offer flood assistance to Romania

Cyprus will offer EU accession country Romania humanitarian assistance estimated at 36 thousand dollars to handle the damage caused by the floods last summer.

The money is being offered by the Cyprus government, the Pancyprian Association to Fight Hunger and the Cyprus Red Cross and is an act of solidarity to Romania, an official statement said on Thursday.

The assistance will be handed tomorrow to Romania’s charge d’affairs in Cyprus, Dan Petru Avasilouiei by Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, ambassador Sotos Zackheos, President of the Pancyprian Association to Fight Hunger, Bishop of Larnaca Chrysostomos and Leda Koursoumba, Vice President of the Cyprus Red Cross, during a ceremony on Friday at the Foreign Ministry.
