The Mine Action Centre Cyprus (MACC) assisted by UNFICYP will dispose of mines on the 18 of October 2005 from 8am to 4pm, in the UN-patrolled buffer zone 3 kilometres Northeast of Dhenia.

During the day, loud explosions will be heard in surrounding neighborhood areas. Members of the public are advised to remain outside a radius of 500 meters from the demolition area and to comply with the instructions of the relevant authorities.

To date, the MACC, funded by the European Union (EU) with 4 millions Euros and set-up under the umbrella of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Partnership for the Future (PFF) programme, has released 591,306 square meters of land and has cleared a total of 2242 mines.
