Cyprus and Britain agree in many issues concerning the economic development of the European Union, Cypriot Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Christos Taliadoros and British High Commissioner to Cyprus Peter Millet stated today.

During their meeting they discussed employment and social matters concerning both countries as well as the European Union as a whole.

In statements after the meeting Millet noted that for the British EU Presidency it is of high importance to face all future challenges that would arise from a competitive environment as well as from globalization, especially after the rejection of the European Constitutional Treaty by France and Holland.

‘We had a very positive discussion because we have a common ground in many issues regarding the economic development of Europe. We have a common ground since we share a common employment system’, Millet said.

On his part, the Cypriot Minister said that they also reviewed the cooperation between his Ministry and British organizations regarding work and social issues and added that they decided to further develop their cooperation in these fields.
