A Bangladeshi student who used credit cards belonging to other people to purchase goods over the Internet was jailed for eight months in Singapore.

Salman Ahsan, 17, spent 15,400 Singapore dollars (9,333 U.S.), according to The Straits Times.

A court heard Ahsan noticed a posting of credit card details in a chatroom and took note of them. He and a friend, Robert Lee, agreed to use the details to make purchases on the Internet, sell off the items and share the profits.

Among the purchases were four Nomad music players charged to the holder of a Commerce Bank Visa credit card and products from the holder of a National City Bank Visa credit card.

Lee remained at large. (dpa)
