Motorola and Cingular Wireless, the largest wireless carrier in the U.S., are introducing the RAZR Black – the “must have” sequel to the Motorola RAZR.
The RAZR Black debuted as an exclusive gift to Hollywood luminaries during the 77th Annual Academy Awards. All directing and acting nominees, including Hilary Swank, Cate Blanchett, Jamie Foxx and Clint Eastwood, received the super-sleek handset in anticipation to the big event.
With a VGA camera, the Motorola RAZR Black leverages Cingular’s MEdia services like picture messaging and Cingular sounds, enabling users to share pictures taken with the phone and easily download music. Cingular subscribers can take advantage of these MEdia services and save money by signing up for a MEdia bundle – a monthly package which includes text, instant and picture messaging as well as MEdia Net.
“We are excited to bring Motorola RAZR Black to market on the heels of the immensely popular silver version,” said David Christopher, vice president product management, Cingular Wireless.
Aircraft-grade aluminum, magnesium and nickel-plated copper alloy metals comprise the handset’s slim silhouette. Video playback and integrated Bluetooth wireless technology complement the RAZR Black feature set.
Starting July 1, Cingular Wireless will begin selling the Motorola RAZR Black for $199.99 based on a two-year contract. The product will be made available to Cingular’s 2,600 company-owned stores in the U.S., plus all of Cingular’s other distribution points which include authorized agent locations, national retail locations and cingular.com.
Beginning mid-July, Cingular Wireless customers will also have the option of personalizing their Motorola RAZR Black. For $19.99 plus shipping and handling, Cingular will engrave the battery door of the phone and ship it to the desired address within 4-6 weeks. Engraving is limited to 20 characters and will be available only to the RAZR Black, but expect the silver RAZR option to be available in August. In a few weeks, Cingular customers will be able to visit www.cingular.com to place an order, or they can visit a store location where a Cingular representative can assist them in placing an order from the web site.
