Egyptian Minister to address Cyprus shipowners’ dinner

A dinner will be given by the Cyprus Union of Shipowners to honour the Egyptian Transport Minister Dr Essam Sharaf and his delegation on Friday night at the Bagatelle Restaurant in Nicosia.

Dr Sharaf’s Cypriot counterpart, Haris Thrassou and Commerce and Industry Minister George Lillikas will also attend the dinner.

The Egyptian Minister will be on an official visit to Cyprus at the invitation of the Minister of Communications and Work, during which he will hold talks and sign a memorandum on merchant shipping cooperation.

During his visit Dr Sharaf will be received by President Tassos Papadopoulos and will hold meetings with House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias and Minister of Commerce and Tourism George Lillikas.

On Friday Sharaf and Thrasou will hold talks on issues of common interest, such as the technical know-how Cyprus has acquired in the field of road construction, possible cooperation Cypriot construction companies can provide in Egypt as well as issues concerning port management.

The role of Cyprus as a transit-trade center and the issue of Cypriot cruise liners approaching Egyptian ports will also be discussed.
