Cyprus participates in Victory celebrations

A total of 56 Heads of state, governments and international organisations take part in the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of Victory in Moscow.

Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos and former Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides were welcomed at the opening of the main events marking the end of WW II by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

The military parade started at 10.00 on the Red Square. At 1130 the leaders lay wreaths on the grave of the unknown soldier.

A joint photo of the leaders was taken at 1140 to be followed by a reception on behalf of the Russian President at the Kremlin Palace at 1200.

At 2000 the celebrations will conclude with a theatrical performance at the Red Square.

President Papadopoulos returns home tomorrow noon.
