Some 25 Greek Cypriot companies are close to being matched with Turkish Cypriot producers for trade across the Green Line, only five weeks after the matchmaking programme co-ordinated by award-winning M.G.C. Group got under way.

M.G.C. group Managing Director Marios Christodoulou, who has decades of experience in international trading, has been working with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE) and the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce (KTTO) to match appropriate companies.

He is being assisted by Business Development Adviser John Anderson, an experienced volunteer whose work falls under the USAID programme.

Not only have Christodolou and Anderson been busy matching appropriate buyers with appropriate sellers, they have also been advising Turkish Cypriot producers on product presentation: everything from the colour of the packaging to more technical issues such as bar codes.

While Christodoulou is unable to reveal the names of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot companies which are ready to start trading across the Green Line, since this is commercially sensitive information, he is able to confirm that they are large and well known businesses on each side.

More details on the matchmaking programme will be posted this week in the Research Centre are of our website, under “North Cyprus economy and trade”.
