Cyprus President at EU – US summit

President Tassos Papadopoulos leaves Tuesday for Brussels to participate in a European Union–US summit.

On Tuesday afternoon, US President George Bush, prior to his meeting with European Commission Preident Jose Barroso, will meet with the 25 heads of state and sovernment of EU member states, including President Papadopoulos.

Parallel to this meeting, EU Foreign Ministers, including Cypriot Minister George Iacovou, and Foreign Relations Commissioner Ferrero–Waldner will meet with US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

According to a European Commission press release, discussions are expected to focus on the EU contribution to promote stability in the Middle East, including the Middle East peace process, Iraq and reform in the broader Middle East, and on economic relations.

President Barroso will host a working dinner for President Bush and his party, for the President of the European Council Jean–Claude Juncker, accompanied by the President of the Council Jean Asselborn and the Secretary General of the Council/High Representative Javier Solana.
