Carnival festivities in Cyprus begin on February 8th at the coastal town of Limassol, hometown of the island’s Carnival fiesta, with the entrance parade of King Carnival, who will be dressed this year as the King of Love.

The carnival program was presented today by Limassol Mayor Andreas Christou, who promised everyone a joyful eleven-day fiesta.

On February 8th, the King Carnival, dressed as the King of Love, will enter the town in a festive atmosphere on an illuminated float accompanied by serenades, majorettes, the Mayor and the Municipal Council.

The parade will start from the Town Hall and will finish at

Heroes Square

where carnival merrymaking with songs and dancing will take place.

Carnival fiestas will follow the next days with serenaders singing, competitions for the best carnival costumes, dancing events, choirs, songs for children and free wine by Cyprus’ wine industries.

On Sunday 18th of February the Grand Carnival parade will take place with over five thousand people participating. In the evening the Limassol Municipality invites all to the farewell dance of the Carnival in the

Medieval Castle Square
