CBC: Bounced cheques reach €2.69 mn in nine months

Bounced cheques issued in the first nine months of the year reached €2.69 mn, figures released by the Central Bank of Cyprus show on Thursday.

In total, some 1,765 uncovered cheques were issued between January and September and 908 persons were listed in the preliminary list of the Central Information Registry as issuers of dishonoured cheques. Of those, 528 were natural persons and 380 legal entities.

In September, uncovered cheques amounted to €390,265 compared to €978,348 in September 2013. The number of persons listed in the preliminary list of CIR reached 76, compared to 293 the same month of the previous year.
