Cyprus President to pay Germany a state visit in May

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades will pay Germany a state visit 6-8 of May, during which he will be officially received by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

According to CNA sources, President Anastasiades will be officially received on Tuesday 6th of May by Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin. A working lunch will follow with the participation of delegations from both sides. Anastasiades and Merkel will then give a joint press conference.
This will be the first official visit of the President to Germany after his election and after the Eurogroup decisions on Cyprus last March. According to CNA sources, the visit will provide the opportunity to both countries to open a new page in their relations.

President Anastasiades will be accompanied by first lady Andri Anastasiades, Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, Finance Minister Harris Georgiades, Minister of Communications and Works Marios Demetriades and other officials.
Minister of Finance Harris Georgiades will hold a meeting with his German counterpart Wolfgang Schaeuble. According to CNA sources, Germany is expected to give its support to the efforts of the Republic of Cyprus for economic recovery.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Cypriot President will meet with the President of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert. He will also address the German Society for Foreign Policy (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik).
On May 8, the President will be in Hamburg, where he will meet with the Mayor of the city. Later on, he will attend a luncheon with the German Shipowners` Association in the presence of a delegation of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber.

During his visit, President Anastasiades will give interviews to German media.
