Cyprus Attorney General Costas Clerides said he will walk home after his limo was confiscated by a repossession agent on Wednesday over a land dispute worth EUR 7 mln.
The BMW 7-series was locked, loaded onto a recovery truck and towed away by the repo agents armed with a court order to repossess state property as part of a claim by the plaintiff who has not been paid for the expropriation of his land.
The Attorney General did not object to the repo agents, but said this was humiliating for the state and its institutions.
The claim involves land expropriated by the Ministry of Education several years ago, but the owner has not been fully compensated. He had previously tried to repossess the limo of the previous Attorney General a year ago.
However, this time, the plaintiff managed to repossess the car of the Deputy Attorney General as well, the only problem being that Rikkos Erotokritou lives in another town, and would need to find alternative transport to get home.
