Annual inflation rises in Cyprus, the Eurozone and the EU

Annual inflation in Cyprus, the Eurozone and the EU went up in June, according to data published on Tuesday by Eurostat.

Cyprus’ inflation was 0.8% in June, up from 0.2% last May.
In Greece, the rate remained unchanged, at -0.3%, while continuing to be negative for a fourth consecutive month.

Euro area annual inflation was 1.6% in June 2013, up from 1.4% in May, while EU annual inflation increased to 1.7% in June 2013, up from 1.6% in May.
EU countries recording the lowest percentages were Greece (-0.3%), Latvia (+0.2%) and Poland (+0.2%). The highest percentage rates were recorded in Romania (+4.5%), Estonia (+4.1%) and the Netherlands (+3.2%).

Price changes on an annual basis (June 2013 to June 2012) in products and services were as follows: fruits +8.7%, vegetables +9%, energy +4.8%, electricity +4.8%, tobacco, food and alcohol +3%, telecommunications -5%, fuels for transportation -0.5%.
