Cyprus will maintain its position as a noteworthy international business centre for Chinese and Cypriot companies, President Nicos Anastasiades told guests at a dinner organised by the Cyprus – Chinese Business Association, where he spoke highly of the excellent cooperation so far between the two countries.
At the same time, he hoped that relations between Cyprus and China will continue to develop in the coming years and emphasised the government’s decisions to offer favourable tax incentives to existing or new foreign businesses, adding that more measures will follow.
Cyprus will remain a credible partner for all businessmen and investors interested to expand their business and will maintain its position as a noteworthy international investment centre for both Chinese and Cypriot business, he said.
Despite current economic troubles, he said, Cyprus remains an attractive investment destination and a competitive centre for international businesses, offering a base for their activities and advantageous access to markets such as Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Africa, India and Asia.
Anastasiades said that the discovery of hydrocarbon reserves within the offshore Exclusive Economic Zone created huge prospects for investments and cooperation in the field of energy and has resulted in a fresh momentum in the cooperation between Cyprus and foreign businesses.
A Chinese investment firm also recently bought Venus Rock, a golf and hotel resort near Paphos, from local developers Aristo Group and Dolphin Capital Investments for 290 mln euros, with the aim to develop the project to include luxury holiday homes for Chinese investors.
