Constructive CTO participation in the Leonardo da Vinci project ECOTOUR

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation has recently participated in the Coordination meeting of the partners of the project “ECOTOUR” which took place in Lithuania and which is co-financed be the European Program Leonardo da Vinci. CTO was represented by Ms. Maro Kazepi, Tourist Officer A’ – Tourism Strategy Department, Coordinator of the program.
The project aims to improve the skills and competences of ecotourism stakeholders in Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania and Spain, while at the same time encouraging ecotourism development in project countries in particular and Europe in general.
ECOTOUR is implemented by a consortium of eight partners from four EU countries: Cyprus, Spain, Estonia, and Lithuania. The Cyprus partners include the Cyprus University of Technology [lead partner], the Cyprus Tourism Organisation and X-Panel Company.
Within the framework of the project’s activities, training tools for Ecotourism will be developed. The working program of the Coordination meeting included planning for the design of the training modules, the means of training, including the E-Learning method, pilot testing and dissemination of the project’s results.
The resulting Ecotourism training modules will be useful for tourism SMEs, students, rural entrepreneurs and communities that would learn how to present and transfuse their knowledge on the surrounding nature and local culture to the tourists.
In order to disseminate the results of the ECOTOUR project, a conference is expected to take place in Cyprus in October, with the participation of delegates from the partner countries and ecotourism stakeholders in Cyprus.
