Cypriot MP says EU natural gas more important

If the natural gas of Asian countries is important for Europe, then the natural gas deposits of a member of the EU, which are closer, are twice as important, President of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs of Cyprus` House of Representatives Averof Neophytou has said.

He added that the significant deposits of natural gas in Cyprus` exclusive economic zone and the broader basis of the Eastern Mediterranean could constitute the third energy route for EU needs, which would benefit the economies of EU member states and their energy security.
