Marcos Baghdatis returns to the BMW Open in Munich this week in his first clay-court of the year. He has enjoyed success in the German tournament before, reaching the semi-finals in 2007 (lost to Philipp Kohlschreiber) and 2010 (lost to Marin Cilic).
Marcos will open his campaign against a qualifier and, should he win, will face a second-round clash with fourth seed and two-time former champion Kohlschreiber. World No. 10 Janko Tipsarevic headlines the 28-player field, with Cilic, Tommy Haas and Florian Mayer also competing.
Marcos is also competing in the doubles draw alongside American Eric Butorac, a winner of 13 ATP World Tour doubles titles. The first-time pairing opens against fourth seeds Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak on Monday, playing the fourth match after an 11am start on SZ Court.
