Finance Minister Vassos Sharly communicated on Monday night with the Troika group in Brussels to set a date for its third visit to Cyprus.

The Troika (European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund) is to return to Cyprus for a new round of consultations on its application for financial assistance. No date has yet been set for the visit.

"During the communication, the Minister briefed the Troika heads on the latest developments. On its part the Finance Ministry undertook to provide within the coming days information on some issues raised by the Troika," a press release issued by the Finance Ministry notes.

"After today`s (yesterday`s) communication, the Troika heads, following consultations, will brief the Republic of Cyprus on the possible date for their new visit to Cyprus," the press release adds.

Cyprus applied on June 25 for financial assistance to the EU bailout mechanism in a bid to recapitalize its banking sector, severely hit by the Greek sovereign debt haircut and to secure its refinancing needs.
