Laiki Bank sponsored and participated in the China Offshore Summit

Laiki Bank sponsored and took part in the “China Offshore Summit”, a very successful conference held in China on 30 and 31 May 2012. The conference was organised by China Offshore, one of the biggest media companies in China.

The conference, which was attended by over 200 business representatives, aimed to provide Chinese professionals about the key international financial centres, as well as to assist international companies to network with Chinese investors.

Laiki Bank participated through its local representative office in China and its staff had the opportunity to promote Cyprus as an international financial centre to the Chinese and other participants. Mrs Popi Vryonide, Chief Representative Officer of Laiki Bank’s representative office in Beijing was a speaker at the conference. The subject of her speech was “Cyprus, an international financial centre”. During the conference there were favourable comments from participants on Cyprus as an emerging market and base for Chinese investors.

Laiki Bank will participate in another similar conference which will be held in Shanghai this October.

Laiki Bank, being the only Cypriot banking institution with a representative office in China, aims to help establish and develop cooperation, investment and business ties between China and Cyprus.

Laiki Bank’s representative office in Beijing has been in operation since late 2011 and is housed in the China World Trade Centre, at the heart of Beijing’s Central Business district.
