Cyprus motor regs drop 17.6% in 2011

Registrations of motor vehicles dropped by 17.6% in 2011, having already dropped by 12.5% in 2010 and 25.7% in 2009.
The Statistical Service reported that total registrations fell to 36,264 in January – December 2011, from 44,025 vehicles in the same period of 2010.
Private saloon car registrations fell by 16% to 26,409 in 2011 from 31,423 in 2010. Of this total, 13,480 or 51.0% were new and 12,929 were used.
Goods conveyance vehicles declined by 31.4% to 4,590 in 2011, compared with 6,690 in January-December 2010.
Light goods vehicles decreased by 31.0% to 3,854 in 2011, from 5,586 in 2010.
Heavy goods vehicles decreased by 33.8% to 568 in January-December 2011 from 858 in January-December 2010.
Road tractors (units of trailers) decreased by 31.7% to 168 in January-December 2011 from 246 in January-December 2010.
Mopeds of less than <50 cc decreased by 2.2% to 447 in 2011 from 457 in January-December 2010.
Mechanised cycles of over > 50 cc decreased by 17.4% to 2,527 in 2011 compared with 3,060 in January-December 2010.
