Average monthly earnings in Cyprus increase during Q3 2011

The average monthly earnings of employees in Cyprus during the third quarter of 2011 amounted to 1,905 euros, with males earning 2,091 and females 1,686 euros.

According to the preliminary estimations of the Statistical Service, in comparison with the third quarter of 2010, an increase of 2.6% was recorded in the average monthly earnings of employees, with 2.9% for males and 2.4% for females. The corresponding increase observed during the third quarter of 2010 was 3.1%.

The increase mainly reflects the payment of the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) on the gross earnings of employees, 1.25% as from January 2011 and 1.39% as from July 2011.

In comparison with the second quarter of 2011 (seasonally adjusted data) there was a marginal increase of 0.4% in the average monthly earnings of employees, 0.2% for males and 0.6% for females. The corresponding percentage change observed during the third quarter of 2010 was 1.4%.
