Cyprus hotels and restaurants turnover climbs in Q3

Hotels and restaurants had a strong third quarter according, to the latest figures on turnover from the Statistical Service.
Turnover in the sector of accommodation and food service activities rose by 7.6% in July – September 2011 compared with the corresponding period of 2010.
Professional, scientific and technical activities recorded a slight increase of 2.1% in the same period while administrative and support service activities rose by 3.1%.
By contrast, information and communication services dropped by 2.8%.
For the first nine months as a whole, accommodation and food service activities rose by 7.6% compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
Professional, scientific and technical activities increased by 4.5% and administrative and support service activities by 2.6%.
Information and communication rose in the first nine months by 3.7%.

Land transport

Meanwhile, turnover for land transport in the first nine months fell by 1.2% compared with the corresponding period of 2010.
Water transport turnover dropped by 17.6% and air transport by 22.9%.
Postal and courier activities fell by 5.4% in the same period.
