The Mall of Cyprus, the biggest shopping mall of Cyprus is celebrating its first Anniversary with a big bang and host of events to mark the occasion with visionary entrepreneur Nicos Shacolas welcoming the warm welcome that the Mall has received from the Cyprus public.
The numbers speak for themselves regarding the success of the Mall. In its first year of operation, the number of visitors passed 4.4 mln, or 85.000 a week on average, which when combined with the 1.3 mln visitors to IKEA, mean a total of 5.7 mln visitors passed through the complex.
“Our expectations based on studies by experts were for the number of visitors to range between 2.5 mln to 4.0 mln, but we broke through those numbers very easily, which is testimony to the fact that the Mall of Cyprus has been warmly embraced by the public,” said Shacolas.
Before the end of the year, two new wings are expected to become fully operational, with plans under way to dedicate a statute at the junction to the entrance to the Mall to Cypriot Mothers.
The Mall of Cyprus is the flagship of the Shacolas Emporium Park spanning an area of 27.000 sq. metres, housing 31 shops, 10 café/ fast food restaurants, 3 cinemas, children’s playing ground with parking space for 1500 cars, of which 1100 are covered.
“The total sales generated by the shops and utilities in the Mall of Cyprus during the first year is seen at EUR 100 mln, with prospects even better for the next year,” said Mall of Cyprus General Manager Marios Chiromerides.
In addition to IKEA, which is based in its separate building, household names such as Zara, the Fourlis Group, K-Cineplex cinemas, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Fridays and Starbucks have rented space at the Mall of Cyprus.
