Cyprus industrial turnover rises strongly in January-May

The industrial turnover index for Cyprus reached 164.4 (base 2000=100) in May 2008, recording an increase of 14.2% compared with May 2007.
The industrial turnover index comprises mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity, gas and water supply.
For the period January-May 2008 the index recorded a rise of 14.1% compared with the same period of the previous year. Industrial production in the same period rose by 4.8%.
For manufacturing, the turnover index for May 2008 reached 160.0, recording an increase of 12.4% compared to May 2007.
