Greek Deputy Foreign Minister visits Cyprus

Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister Theodoros Kassimis will attend a meeting of overseas Cypriots, who gather annually on the island to discuss various issues that concern them, in particular the question of Cyprus.

The 22nd conference of the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots (POMAK) and the International Coordinating Committee “Justice for Cyprus” (PSEKA) and the fourth world congress of the World Federation of Young Overseas Cypriots (NEPOMAK) begin here today and will conclude on Friday.

According to a press release issued today by the Greek embassy here, Kassimis will be accompanied by the Director General of the General Secretariat of Greeks Abroad Ioannis Kyparissides and his deputy Haralambos Hadjicharalambous.

Kassimis will address the opening ceremony of the conference.

During his visit here, he will be received Wednesday by the President of the Republic Demetris Christofias and meet Cyprus Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou.

Kassimis leaves on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a Greek parliamentary delegation on overseas issues is also due here later today to participate in the conference of POMAK and PSEKA.

The delegation, comprising members of the major Greek parliamentary parties of New Democracy, PASOK, Communist Party and SYRIZA, will be received Wednesday by President Christofias and on Thursday they will meet House President, Marios Garoyian.

The members of the delegation will also hold meetings with political parties.
