AVIATION: Germanwings is starting flights to Cyprus

Hermes Airports announces the launch of Germanwings routes to Cyprus. The German airline which is a subsidiary company of Lufthansa, will connect Larnaka with Cologne, Germany. The route commences on 1st November on a weekly basis, every Saturday.

The launch of Germanwings’ flights to Cyprus is expected to contribute significantly to the efforts of reviving the tourist traffic from Germany whilst is considered being a forerunner of positive developments, if these are properly employed by the stakeholders of the tourism industry of Cyprus. Germanwings’ flights also give passengers the opportunity to benefit from the airline’s extensive air-connection network to many European as well as other destinations offered by the German Group of Lufthansa, which also includes SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines.

In a statement, the Chief Executive Officer of Hermes, Mr. Wes Porter, welcomed the launch of Germanwings flights to Cyprus and noted that this development is the result of concerted actions and efforts made by Hermes in collaboration with all the other appropriate stakeholders of Cyprus’ tourism industry.

As he said, the expansion of the air-connectivity service between Cyprus and Germany, creates the foundations and also all the necessary conditions that need to be in place in order to follow a methodical and effective pathway towards achieving a significant recovery from the German market. On our part, I wish to assure the solid and relentless commitment of Hermes to the joint effort of boosting the tourism industry of Cyprus, he concluded.
