On Tuesday October 21st, the Cyprus Tourism Organization hosted an event to inform its partners, local authorities and communities of the completion of the Project “Enrichment and Enhancement of Themed Routes” which is co-funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).

The event took place on the occasion of the completion of the 2nd phase of the Cycling Routes and the 7th Wine Route. These routes help in the development of special products that add value to Cyprus’ tourism offerings and contribute to the enhancement of rural areas, the mitigation of seasonality, and give Cyprus a competitive advantage as a tourist destination.

CTO’s Head of Tourism, Mrs Anita Demetriadou, presented the projects, mentioning: “Through synergies and targeted activities, we aim to position Cyprus as a destination with limitless opportunities for leisure and all-year-round activities, showcasing our countryside as a dynamic component of our island’s tourist identity”.

The 2nd cycling route, approximately 69km long, that was presented during the event, begins at the Limassol Marina and connects the city of Limassol with the 1st cycling route of Troodos in Pano Platres. The 7th and final wine route is located on the mountain area of Larnaka and Nicosia and passes through 11 communities and three wineries, Aes Ambelis, Ktima Dafermou and Ktima Christoudia.
